About Us / Contact Lenses / Teens in Contacts

You may have noticed many advertisements and commercials for contact lenses having younger users. No, it´s not that we´re getting older, it´s that contact lenses have become more versatile that younger patients are now able to use them. The average age for teens to start wearing contacts is now 13 years old.

This being the case may be why you might have your teen begging to wear contact lenses. The question presented to us, the doctors, is "Can they wear contacts doc?" Truth is that contact lens wearers can be as young as an infant. The reality is that there needs to be a responsible individual to maintain the contact lens routine for healthy eye care. If you feel your teen is responsible enough to handle the task, then yes - he/she is ready for contacts.

If however, maybe it might require another year of maturity, commit to re-evaluating it in 6-month to 1 year timeframe and see at that point. In the meantime, explore our Optical Shop for the latest in trendy eyewear to help pacify your teen!
